"...Other Than Yourself ???"

I guess when you near a milestone birthday (50 is rapidly approaching) and manage health issues, one can become more introspective.
You face the reality of your mortality. This causes one to reflect back on their life to this point. The good, bad, & ugly life decisions have lead you to this moment in time. The decisions you make today will determine your future.
I can’t help but notice the posts on Facebook, as well as listening to others…really listening. The posts and conversations are centered around SELF. Your workout routine is less important than extending your prayers to someone in need.
It leads me to wonder:
  • How often have you posted words of encouragement to someone else?
  • Facebook makes it easy…how many “likes” have you given? How many “Happy Birthday” Greetings or “Congrats” have you shared?
  • How many emails or texts have you sent?
  • How many smiles have you given?
  • How many acts of kindness have you extended?

The Bible tells us about doing good toward others:
James 4:17 (NKJV): “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”
Galatians 6:10 (NKJV): “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
Luke 6:35 (NKJV): “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.”
We were not created to think ONLY of ourselves. We are to be of service to others.
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” – Muhammad Ali
“Only a life lived in service to others is worth living.” – Albert Einstein
“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others remain and is immortal.” – Mason Albert Pike

The Question is: What have you done today for someone other than yourself?
