“Challenging the 5 Senses…”

Humans have a multitude of senses. Sight (ophthalmoception), hearing (audioception), taste (gustaoception), smell (olfacoception or olfacception), and touch (tactioception) are the five traditionally recognized. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sense

2014 is a year that we must challenge our senses to be more in sync with God and each other on this journey we call LIFE.

Oprah Winfrey highlights these when she reiterates humans’ need for validation: “Do you see me? Do you hear me? Does what I say matter?

You are only here by the GRACE & MERCY of God. Your current life is being sustained ONLY because GOD has a purpose for you, and it aligns with HIS Master Plan. We are instructed to “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (NKJV):

We should all heighten our 5 Senses to do the following:

SEE the Unseen
Someone smiling, yet the aching in their eyes.
An elderly person that we pass by every day.
Things & People as they really are; not how we are.

HEAR the Unheard
A child’s cry for your attention by their unacceptable behavior.
A woman saying, “I’m O.K,” but her eyes say something else.
The pain behind that smile of someone with arthritis or a health challenge.

TASTE the untasted
The love and attention given to a home-cooked meal.
The fresh, robust flavors of organic fruit & vegetables.
The true "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat."

TOUCH the untouched
Someone’s heart, who feels unlovable.
Another’s hand, who has not experienced kindness.
With a smile that may brighten someone's entire day.

SMELL the unsmelled
The fresh air;
The fresh, cut grass;
The scent in a room.

We are interconnected and interdependent. We need each other, whether we acknowledge it or not. We have become a very global society.

As we continue to grow and evolve, our elevated senses will prove to be valuable for us professionally, personally, physically, & spiritually. Wake up to the humanity around you. Wake up...Look up...and Be Thankful...
