“If You Wait…”

I ran upon this quote and found it to be profound:

“If You Wait to Do Everything for Everybody,
Instead of Doing Something for Somebody,
You’ll End up not doing Anything  for Anybody.” – Malcolm Bane

I have seen Facebook posts from people who:
  • Complained that enough is not being done for the homeless.
  • Criticized others for not responding to those in storms, such as hurricanes, tornadoes or snow storms.
  • Wondered why the church doesn’t do more to feed the homeless.

The question is:   How many homeless people have you fed?

We all have the capacity to do SOMETHING to help someone else. It can be as simple as a phone call, a text, a card, a meal, a Facebook post or a word of encouragement.

The Bible says:
Deuteronomy 15:11 (NIV): 11 There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.
James 2:14-17 (NKJV):  14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Hebrews 13:16 (NIV): 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Galatians 6:9 (NIV): 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Powerful Quotes:
“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”  - Ronald Reagan
“If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”  - Mother Teresa
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’ “ – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“No one has ever become poor by giving.” – Anne Frank
“One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth doing is what we do for others.” - Lewis Carroll
“Only a life lived for others is a life worth living.” - Albert Einstein
"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."  - Muhammed Ali
“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them. “ – Dalai Lama

If every one of us did one kind thing for someone else, the ripple effects would be wonderfully vast, epic and monumental…
